Furoshiki Ukiyo-e Hokusai – Sea, 48x48cm

The furoshiki (風呂敷) is a traditional square cloth, used in Japan to carry clothes, bentō, gifts, and
other items.

It’s the Japanese art of wrapping, containing, and transporting objects of any shape: an
elegant and eco-friendly alternative for creating unique gift packages or
everyday accessories like pouches, bags, and organizers.

This furoshiki line is inspired by 19th-century Ukiyo-e prints. Perfect as a
gift or a decorative piece, these furoshiki are also ideal for daily use,
crafted from soft yet durable cotton.

The “Kajikazawa in Kai Province” design is considered, along with the Great Wave,
one of Hokusai’s masterpieces. The composition is carefully arranged
into two triangles: one formed by the rock and the fisherman’s net cords, the
other by the silhouette of Mount Fuji in the background.

Ikiya’s furoshiki are perfect for everyday use, for gifting, or for wrapping presents
with style.

Tip: if you want to transform your furoshiki into a bag, you can use the wooden handles available on this page.

These handles are perfect for your furoshiki, allowing you to create a bag easily and
quickly, combining the convenience of handles with the beauty of the furoshiki!
Simply pass the furoshiki ends through the holes, tie a knot, and it’s done.
The handles also have small but strong magnets to keep your bag securely
closed.
